QUID SCIS?
This site is being developed by grade 8, 9, and 10 students as a collaborative research project of the Classics Department and the Library Information Centre. Students have been assigned several significant topics to investigate using the four (4) steps of the OLA Information Research Process.

GREAT FIGURES OF ANCIENT ROME
Your task is to assume the role of a major historical figure from Ancient Rome. As this character, you will solve (or attempt to solve) a problem which your character faced. After researching your character and the problem, you will present your findings to the class. Your project will consist of a written report, a presentation, and an artistic representation of your person or some aspect of their life. You may choose from the list below. TOPICS
Problem-solving in the shoes of famous personnages of the Roman Empire.
PROCESS
Your written report (plus works cited list) and presentation (approx. 3-4 minutes) must include the background to the problem, the way in which your character tried to solve the problem, and the consequences of his or her solution.
Artistic Element: This section of the project must include an artistic representation of the figure or some aspect of his or her life. You might choose to do a drawing of a significant event in the person’s career, or create a portrait of the person. You may make something entirely original, or you may attempt to reproduce something from antiquity, such as a coin or statue.
- Outline of the Research Process, focus of inquiry and note-making from general encyclopedias.
- Note-making from special encyclopedias (biographical) and monographs (books).
- Note-making from monographs.
- Introduction to and begin web-page design.
ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION
Evaluation considerations will focus on your demonstrations of creativity, knowledge and understanding, your note-making, your understanding of the research process, documentation of your sources, design of your web page
